The Statistical Office Berlin-Brandenburg ( short AFS ) is the central service in the field of official statistics for the region Berlin-Brandenburg . The office has its headquarters in Potsdam and further locations in Berlin - Friedrichsfelde and Cottbus . There are currently around 430 employees (as of 2020).

founding

The Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office was created on January 1, 2007 through the merger of the Berlin State Statistical Office and the Statistics Department of the Brandenburg State Office for Data Processing and Statistics (LDS BB). It was established by a state treaty between the two countries as an institution under public law .

Tasks and organization

A board of directors with representatives from the interior and finance departments of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg controls and decides on fundamental matters. He monitors the proper conduct of business by the board member Jörg Fidorra.

The office is divided into four departments and 23 units:

Services and offers

A total of more than 250 federal and EU statistics as well as 25 state statistics from all areas of social life - also for elections and referendums - are collected, processed, summarized and evaluated by the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office. By issuing various publications, official statistics meet the information requirements of business, society and science.

As the largest specialized library in the State of Brandenburg, the Office's library holds a wide range of statistical data at its Berlin location and, together with the information service, answers questions about official statistics. Customer-specific data processing complement the range of information provision (subject to a fee).

The Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office offers free data on the Internet for the State of Berlin and its districts, as well as for the State of Brandenburg, its districts and urban districts.
