Ana Moreira , also Anabela Moreira , (born February 13, 1980 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese film actress .

Career

While still at school, she played in a television program for the first time. She dropped out of her graphic design degree to devote herself entirely to acting, starting with a role in the short film "Primavera" . At the age of 18 she made her first feature film, "Os Mutantes" ("Children of the Night"), which was shown in competition at the Cannes Film Festival and for which she won first prizes for her performance at the festivals in Bastia , Santa Maria da Feira and Taormina . At the 1999 Berlinale she was subsequently named a “ Shooting Star ”.

She received critical acclaim for the film “Transe” and her role as a Russian woman who is a victim of trafficking in women and forced prostitution, as well as for her multiple roles (including as Sissi in Madeira ) in the literary film adaptation “A Corte do Norte” (based on a novel by Agustina Bessa-Luís ). In 2010 she was awarded the “ Globo de Ouro ”, the most famous film prize in Portugal, for this.

Although she did not have any acting training, she was constantly receiving new, diverse film roles and filmed with some of the most important Portuguese directors (such as João Botelho , Teresa Villaverde or José Fonseca e Costa ) in national and international productions. She also stood in front of the camera for various television series. She became known to a larger audience in Portugal, particularly through her roles in the multi-part series “Pedro e Inês” ( RTP , 2005) and the telenovela “Olhos nos Olhos” ( TVI , 2009).

She speaks several foreign languages ​​including Italian, Spanish and Russian.
