history

Analytik Jena was founded in 1990 shortly after the peaceful revolution by the former Carl Zeiss employees Jens Adomat and the later CEO Klaus Berka as well as Walter Maul, who left in 1990. Berka and Adomat initially managed the sales of analytical measuring devices from a large number of manufacturers, primarily in the regions of Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. In a few years, the Thuringian company grew in national and international markets. In 1994, Analytik Jena bought shares in IDC Geräteentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH in Langewiesen (southern Thuringia). From now on, the first own devices for environmental and water analysis were developed in cooperation with IDC. One year later, Analytik Jena acquired the laboratory analysis technology division from Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH. The group thus had a complete area of production, research and development , construction and sales for atomic absorption spectroscopy and UV / Vis spectroscopy . This initiated the path of the company founded as a "sales company for analysis devices" in the direction of its own products.

After the conversion into a stock corporation in 1999, Analytik Jena went public on July 3, 2000 . This created the basis for expanding the product portfolio and implementing the internationalization strategy. In the years that followed, the group continued its growth path through strategic acquisitions, global sales expansion and the establishment of subsidiaries in Germany and abroad. Analytik Jena was already represented in over 30 countries in 2002. After expansions in Eastern and Western Europe and in the USA, Analytik Jena has grown particularly strongly in Asia in recent years. For example, China is one of the company's most important markets.

Analytik Jena followed the growing demand on the biotechnology market by founding the "Life Science" division. With the takeover of Biometra GmbH and CyBio AG, the product portfolio of this business unit was further expanded.

In 2013, Analytik Jena AG was incorporated into a new parent company. Endress + Hauser (Deutschland) AG + Co. KG from Weil am Rhein , the German subsidiary of the Swiss company Endress + Hauser , published the acquisition of control over Analytik Jena AG on September 26, 2013 and thereupon submitted a mandatory takeover offer. Endress + Hauser had previously acquired more than 47% of the voting rights in Analytik Jena AG.

In September 2014, the main shareholder, Endress + Hauser, held 82.22% of the voting rights, whereupon the company submitted an application to revoke its listing on the stock exchange. Minority shareholders were given a six month period to sell their shares. After the deadline, the listing ended. On March 27, 2015, Analytik Jena AG said goodbye to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

In September 2015, Endress + Hauser sent the squeeze-out request to Analytik Jena AG. At this point in time, Endress + Hauser held a stake of 96.18% in the share capital of Analytik Jena AG.

In 2016, the branch in Eisfeld , which had existed since 1997, was sold.
