Anderl Mannhardt (born October 25, 1939 in Rottach-Egern ) is a German mountaineer .

Life

Anderl Mannhardt started climbing at the age of 16, and from 1957 he and Toni Kinshofer became rope companions. As a result, you will come across the first difficult rocky routes in the Northern Limestone Alps (Maukspitze-Westwand, Totenkirchl-Westwand 1958).

From 1959, Mannhardt and Kinshofer followed more difficult rock and ice routes as well as their first winter ascents. The first winter ascent of the north face of the Eiger (1961) caused quite a stir . The following year the two were selected for a new Herrligkoffer expedition to Nanga Parbat . During this expedition, Anderl Mannhardt, Toni Kinshofer and Sigi Löw reached the summit on June 22nd, 1962 via a new route in the Diamir flank , it was the first new route on an eight-thousander and attracted a lot of international attention.

As a result of the Nanga Parbat expedition, Mannhardt suffered considerably from the effects of frostbite (amputations). Nevertheless, in 1963, together with Kinshofer, he managed to climb the comic guide on the north face of the Großer Zinne and the French guide on the western pinnacle. He was still on the road as a mountaineer and a certified mountain and ski guide.
