André Hübner-Ochodlo (* 1963 in Plauen ) is a German theater director and chansonnier .

In the mid-1980s, Hübner studied applied theater studies with Professor Andrzej Wirth at the University of Gießen . After studying in Moscow , where he observed the rehearsals of the Taganka Theater , and in Warsaw at the Jewish Theater, he stayed in Poland in 1985 , where he has lived ever since. At the music theater in Gdynia he began a four-year course at the musical drama school there. During this time he founded an alternative theater group with acting students under the name Teatr Atelier , of which he is still director. With this group mainly Polish premieres by German dramatists were created.

In July 1990 André Hübner-Ochodlo and a young Polish ensemble came to theatrium - Young European Theater in Menden / Sauerland , a theater project initiated and developed by Volker Fleige . There, on September 4th, the musical theater “The dream of life or: On and Ona and paradise” had its world premiere . The text was written by the author and literary critic Jacek St. Buras , the music was created by the composer Jerzy Satanowski .

Since the mid-1990s, the ensemble has had its own small theater on Sopot Beach , which plays modern theater in the summer months and presents chanson evenings that are particularly popular with tourists. Since 1994 he has worked closely with the Polish writer and songwriter Agnieszka Osiecka . After her death in 1997 the Teatr Atelier got her name.

In addition to his directorial activities, he began a career as an interpreter of Yiddish songs and is now one of the most recognized artists in Europe who have made a name for themselves in the memory of Yiddish poetry of times long past. He showed his programs in Sweden , Germany (including lower house in Mainz ), Denmark , Israel , the USA and Canada . The ZDF portrayed him for the mission aspects.
