Andreas Graeser

Andreas Graeser (born November 7, 1942 in Greiz ; † October 5, 2014 in Bern ) was a German philosopher and classical philologist .

Andreas Graeser studied Classical Philology and Philosophy at the Universities of Giessen , Bern and Frankfurt am Main and Ancient Philosophy at Princeton University . In 1972 he completed his habilitation in Classical Philology and in 1974 in Philosophy. After a research stay at Princeton and a visiting professorship in Zurich , he was appointed full professor of philosophy at the University of Bern in 1979. He researched and taught in Bern until his retirement in 2007.

Graeser stood in the tradition of analytical philosophy . He made important contributions to the philosophy of antiquity , in particular to Plato , the philosophy of language and ethics .
