Andreas Hapkemeyer

Andreas Hapkemeyer (born August 23, 1955 in Osnabrück ) is a Germanist , art historian and museum expert living in South Tyrol .

biography

Hapkemeyer grew up in Bolzano since 1967 and studied art history and German studies in Innsbruck from 1974 to 1981 . From 1981 to 1982 he was a teaching assistant for German language and literature at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. From 1983 to 1988 he worked as a lecturer in German language and literature at the University of Messina . Since 1992 he has been teaching at the institutes for art history and German studies at the University of Innsbruck, and later also in Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Bozen. In 1995, Hapkemeyer's habilitation in modern German literature took place. After an assistantship from 1988 he was director of the Museion , the museum for modern and contemporary art in Bolzano from 2000 to 2006 . He has worked on exhibitions with, among others, Lawrence Weiner, Maurizio Nannucci, Heinz Gappmayr, Hamish Fulton, Matt Mullican, Raymond Pettibon and new drawings on the subjects of photo-text, horizontals, art and advertising. From 2007-08 he was coordinator of Manifesta 7, the European Biennial for Contemporary Art (Bolzano / Trient). From 2006 to 2013 he was a board member of the International Foundation Manifesta (Amsterdam). Since 2010 he has been responsible for research / teaching at the Museion (focus on image-text relationships).
