Andreas Metzl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andreas Metzl was abbot of the Waldsassen monastery from 1512 to 1524.

Andreas was the 30th abbot of the Waldsassen monastery and came from Heidingsfeld . He built a library that can be considered a modest forerunner of today's Waldsassen Abbey Library . A liberal Latin verse by Prior Georg Fröhlich has come down to us about the library, which, translated according to Langhammer, reads: "Whether you are enthusiastic about the holy scriptures or you enjoy the works of the pagans, this library offers you all of this with benefit".
