Andreas Preschel

Andreas Preschel (born February 1, 1961 in Schwerin ) is a German judoka who celebrated his greatest successes in the light heavyweight division .

After Preschel missed the European Championships due to injury, he fought for the title at the 1983 World Cup in Moscow . In the final he defeated Valery Divisenko, who started for the USSR , with Waza-ari for his special technique Hiza-guruma . After Detlef Ultsch, he was the second judoka of the German Judo Association to win a world championship. In the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , Preschel could not take part due to the boycott of 15 Eastern Bloc countries , including the GDR . At the European Championships in Hamar in 1985 , he won a bronze medal. Starting for SC Dynamo Hoppegarten , he won the GDR championships in 1983 and 1985.

The qualified sports teacher has the 4th Dan and works as a trainer at KSC Strausberg.
