Andrzej Michał Strejlau (born February 19, 1940 in Warsaw ) is a former Polish soccer player , handball player and soccer coach .
Andrzej Strejlau studied sport in Warsaw. As a football player, he made it to the Polish first division as a striker on a first division game for Gwardia Warsaw and at the end of his active career played in the reserve team of Legia Warsaw . As a handball player he played for Warszawianka Warsaw and became a Polish national handball player .
He started as a football coach in the 1960s as a coach for local Warsaw clubs and was hired by the Polish Football Association as a junior coach. During the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , he was assistant to the Polish national coach Kazimierz Górski . After the Olympic victory in 1972, he was appointed by Górski as an assistant for the 1974 World Cup in Germany . When he won the silver medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , he was also part of Górski's assistant team. Górski's successor Jacek Gmoch appointed him as his assistant in 1977 and so he also took part in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina . After the World Cup he was again a club coach.
As a club coach he was responsible for the teams of Legia Warsaw (1975–1979), Zagłębie Sosnowiec (1979/80), AE Larisa (1984–1986), Legia Warsaw (1988/89) and Zagłębie Lubin (1995/96). In 1989 he was appointed national coach for the last qualifying matches of the Polish national team for the 1990 World Cup and remained the national coach until the qualification for the 1994 World Cup failed .
Today Andrzej Strejlau can be seen regularly as a football commentator on Polish television and president of the fourth division club Hutnik Warsaw.
