Anja Richter (born October 5, 1977 in Vienna ; temporarily also Anja Richter-Libiseller ) is a former Austrian water diver and four-time Olympic participant (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008).

Life

Anja Richter started diving at the age of four and won a gold medal at the European Youth Championships in 1991. She took part in four Olympic Games from 1996 to 2008. Together with her partner Marion Reiff , she reached fourth place in the synchronized jumping competition at the 2000 Olympic Games . At the 2004 Summer Olympics , she again took part in the synchronized jumping competition with Marion Reiff and took 15th place in jumping from the 10-meter tower.

At the European Championships in Seville in 1997 , she won the bronze medal, and at the 2001 World Championships , she finished fourth in synchronized jumping in Japan in July. In 2006 Richter won the individual silver medal at the European Championships in Budapest and was third in the overall World Cup.
In December 2008 she announced the end of her sporting career.

Anja Richter was a temporary soldier in the armed forces from 1998 and graduated from the University of Applied Sciences for Communication Management in 2005 . From 2006 to December 2008 she was press spokeswoman for the Austrian Swimming Association and from 2007 also press spokeswoman for the Vienna Organizing Committee for the 2008 European Football Championship .

Political activity from 2009

From January 1, 2009 to December 2015, she was a consultant in the sports office of the Federal Ministry of Defense and Sport . On December 16, 2015, she became the press spokesperson for the then Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann and held this position until Faymann's resignation on May 9, 2016.

Private

Anja Richter is a granddaughter of the athlete Lisl Richter-Perkaus (1905–1987).
She has two children with the politician Christian Deutsch (* 1962).
