Anja Steinbeck
Anja Verena Steinbeck (born November 6, 1966 in Bitburg ) is a German lawyer . Since November 1, 2014, she has been the rector of the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf .
Career
Anja Steinbeck studied from 1985 to 1990 in Mainz and in the Swiss Geneva , received his doctorate in 1992 in Mainz and put 1993 the second legal state exam from. Steinbeck also qualified as a professor at the University of Mainz in 1998. From 2001 she held the chair for civil law , commercial and corporate law and industrial property law at the University of Cologne , and from 2004 she also headed the Institute for Industrial Property Law and Copyright (IGRU) University.
Her research focus was on business law , in particular fair trading , trademark and copyright law, as well as commercial and company law.
In addition to her academic work, she was a judge at the Cologne Higher Regional Court from October 2004 . On December 16, 2010, Steinbeck was elected Vice-Rector for Planning, Finance and Gender by the members of the Senate of the University of Cologne. She took office on January 1, 2011. The University Council of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf unanimously elected Steinbeck as the new Rector on May 13, 2014. The Senate confirmed the election. Steinbeck took office on November 1, 2014 and will head the university for six years.
Steinbeck is married and has two children.
