Anna de Bourbon-Parma , full name Anna Maria Antonie Françoise Zita Marguerite de Bourbon-Parma (born September 18, 1923 in Paris , † August 1, 2016 in Morges , Switzerland ) was a member of the House of Bourbon-Parma .

Life

Princess Anna was the only daughter of Prince Renato of Bourbon-Parma (1894–1962), son of Duke Robert I of Parma , and of Princess Margaretha of Denmark (1895–1992), niece of King Frederick VIII of Denmark .

As a member of the House of Bourbon-Parma, she was in London in November 1947 at the wedding of the British heir to the throne Elizabeth (II) with the Greek Prince Philip . There she met the young King Michael I of Romania .

On June 10, 1948, she married Michael in the chapel of the Royal Palace of Athens . Michael had been deposed as king in Romania a few months earlier, but despite her husband's deposition, Anna was dubbed Queen of Romania. However, the couple referred to themselves as the Prince and Princess of Hohenzollern .

Since the fall of the Ceaușescu regime, the couple lived again in the Elisabeth Palace in Bucharest , but without exercising a political function. Since 2004 the couple lived in Aubonne , Switzerland. After her death Anna was buried in the Cathedral of Curtea de Argeș .
