Anne Kolb

Anne Kolb (born September 15, 1964 in Sindelfingen ) is a German ancient historian .

Anne Kolb studied Ancient History , Classical Archeology and Classical Philology at the Universities of Heidelberg and Oxford between 1984 and 1992 . In 1992 she received her doctorate in Heidelberg under Géza Alföldy , the subject of the dissertation was “The imperial building administration in the city of Rome. History and structure of the cura operum publicorum under the principle ”. In 1994 and 1995, research grants from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation supported stays at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and in Rome . In 1995 Kolb first became an assistant, later a senior assistant at the Universities of Basel and Zurich . The subject of the habilitation , which took place in Zurich in 2000, was “Transport and Message Transfer in the Roman Empire”. In 2001 she became Assistant Professor of Ancient History in Zurich, and in 2005 she was appointed Professor there.

Kolb mainly works on the structures of rulership and rulership practice in the ancient states, on the social and cultural history of the Roman Empire, and on epigraphic and papyrological problems. She is the project manager for the Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum , where she is the editor responsible for volume XVII.
