Anne Kyllönen (born November 30, 1987 in Kajaani ) is a Finnish cross-country skier .

Career

Kyllönen began her international career with a start at the FIS race on November 7, 2004 in Muonio . She contested her first international championship the following year at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2005 in Monthey , where she won the classic bronze medal over five kilometers. Before that she had finished sixth in the 7.5 km individual race. In the sprint, Kyllönen failed in qualifying. A year later she started in the Scandinavian Cup for the first time . In the sprint competition in Vuokatti , she reached the finals and took 27th place.

At the Junior World Championships 2007 in Tarvisio , she was 14th of the sprint competition. For the 2007/08 season Kyllönen came first in the Finnish national team and then got its first use in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup . In Kuusamo , she just missed qualifying for the finals in 34th place. Over ten kilometers classic she was 53. At the U23 World Championships 2009 in Praz de Lys Sommand , she reached the finals of the sprint competition, where she finished sixth. A year later she finished seventh at the 2010 U23 World Championships in Hinterzarten . In fourth place, Kyllönen narrowly missed a first medal over the 10 km. Kyllönen had previously secured her first victory in the Scandinavian Cup in Vuokatti. In the overall ranking she finally reached 10th place. At the end of the 2009/10 season she won her first World Cup points in 13th place at the World Cup in Drammen .

Kyllönen has been part of the Finnish World Cup team since the 2010/11 season . With the 13th place in Kuusamo she immediately managed to get into the points again. In the Tour de Ski 2010/11 , the Finn did not start the final stage through the Val di Fiemme and thus missed a first place in the overall standings. At the season finale she ran in 34th place. At the following Finnish championships in Kuopio, Kyllönen was sixth in the sprint without a medal. At the start of the 2011/12 winter season, she achieved a strong 15th place in Kuusamo. Also in the following Tour de Ski 2011/12 she was 21st on a good position in the midfield. After winning her qualifying run in the sprint race in Milan , she finished in a very good fifth place. She repeated this rank in the following team sprint together with Riikka Sarasoja-Lilja . At the Finnish Championships in Imatra in 2012 , Kyllönen won the sprint title and the 30 km classic style. On December 13, 2012, she celebrated her first podium finish with second place in Canmore . Three days later she was also in second place in the team sprint. For the 2012/13 Tour de Ski , Kyllönen also took third place on the podium in the 9 km stage in Oberhof . In the overall standings, she finally came in ninth and thus achieved a top 10 position in a stage race for the first time. Just a few days after the Tour de Ski, Kyllönen also achieved her first podium with the relay in La Clusaz . She also won another title at the Finnish Championships in 2013. In Jämijärvi she won over 5 km and won the silver medal in the sprint.

On February 3, 2013 won Kyllönen together with Mona-Liisa Malvalehto in Russian Sochi with the team sprint her first World Cup. At the following Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme, she ran in the sprint only to a disappointing 26th place for Kyllönen. Also in the skiathlon, she clearly failed in 17th place on the top 10. With the relay, Kyllönen also missed a medal in fifth. At the season finale in Falun , she was eighth.

At the beginning of winter 2013/14, Kyllönen won their second team sprint world cup on December 22, 2013 in Asiago together with Aino-Kaisa Saarinen . Before that, she was second on the podium in the sprint in the same place. The Tour de Ski 2013/14 finished Kyllönen in sixth place before she could win the title again in the sprint and over 10 km at the following Finnish championships in Vantaa . At her first Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014, she sprinted to 16th place and over 10 km to 14th place. In the skiathlon she finished 33rd. In the 4x10 km relay race she won the silver medal with Aino-Kaisa Saarinen, Kerttu Niskanen and Krista Lähteenmäki .

At the Tour de Ski 2015 , Kyllönen could not build on the success of the previous year and only crossed the finish line in 14th. At the Finnish Championships 2015 in Jämi, she celebrated another sprint title. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun , Kyllönen reached 20th place in the sprint. After 21st place at the Nordic Opening in Ruka at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, she was second in the relay in Lillehammer . At the Tour de Ski 2016 she made it into the top ten four times and thus achieved seventh place in the overall standings. At the following World Cup in Nové Město , she finished third with the relay. At the end of January 2016 she became the Finnish sprint champion. In February 2016 she came on the podium again with third place in the 30 km mass start race in Oslo . At the end of the season she achieved eighth place in the Ski Tour Canada and reached tenth place in the overall World Cup and seventh place in the Distance World Cup. In April 2016 she became Finnish champion over 30 km classic in Ruka. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season she finished 17th in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer. This was followed by a second place with the relay in La Clusaz . She finished the 2016/17 Tour de Ski with four top ten placements, including second place in the 10 km mass start race in Fiemme Valley , seventh place overall. At the beginning of February 2017, she became Finnish sprint champion in Keuruu . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , she achieved 39th place over 10 km classic and 12th place in skiathlon. At the end of the season she came in 28th place in the World Cup finals in Québec and reached 16th place in the Distance World Cup and 14th place in the overall World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , she finished 33rd in the sprint and seventh together with Krista Pärmäkoski in the team sprint.

In the 2019/20 season, Kyllönen took 37th place in the Ruka Triple, 13th place in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 and 19th place in the ski tour. At the beginning of February 2020 she became Finnish sprint champion in Voyri and reached 21st place in the overall World Cup at the end of the season.
