Anne Vondeling (born March 2, 1916 in Appelscha ; † November 22, 1979 in Mechelen ) was a Dutch politician ( PvdA ).

Vondeling attended a school in Assen and studied in Wageningen until 1940 . During the Second World War he worked as an agricultural engineer. He then worked as a tax consultant and did his doctorate at the Agricultural University in Wageningen. From 1960 to 1963 he worked as a university lecturer at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen .

From 1962 to 1966 Vondeling was party leader of the PvdA and from 1969 to 1971 as the successor of Sjeng Tans its chairman. He was a member of the Second Chamber of the States General from 1946 to 1979, with the exception of his terms as minister: in 1958 he was Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in the Drees III cabinet , and from 1965 to 1966 he was Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the Cals cabinet . He was a member of the Council of Europe from 1959 to 1962. On December 7, 1972 he was elected Chairman of the Second Chamber, which he held until his departure on July 17, 1979.

In 1979 Vondeling was elected to the European Parliament , but died only a few months after the election in a car accident in Mechelen, Belgium. The Anne Vondeling Foundation and the Anne Vondeling Prize for political journalists are named after him.
