Annekatrin Hendel

Annekatrin Hendel (* in East Berlin ) is a German producer , director , screenwriter and production designer .

Life

After studying design, Annekatrin Hendel worked as a freelance costume and production designer for stage and film from 1987. In 1989 she co-founded the Berliner Theater 89 . In 1999 the first short film directing of the feature film Chiquita For Ever followed . In 2004 she founded It Works! Medien GmbH , of which she has been the managing director since then. For German television, she continuously produced documentary films on contemporary history such as Mit Fantasie gegen den Lack and Die Fotografin Sibylle Bergemann . Annekatrin Hendel has been directing herself since 2011, for example the Flake documentary about Christian "Flake" Lorenz , the keyboardist of the band Rammstein , the documentary fatherlands betrayer about the writer Paul Gratzik , which was shown for the first time at the 2011 Berlinale , and the Anderson documentary about the poet Sascha Anderson , whose world premiere took place at the Berlinale 2014 , the documentary Fassbinder about Rainer Werner Fassbinder , which went to the cinema and television in 2015, five stars for which she received the 2017 Heiner Carow Prize at the Berlinale. In 2018 she published the documentary Brasch Family , which premiered at the Munich Film Festival, and in 2019 the documentary Beauty & Evanescence , about the Berghain doorman and photographer Sven Marquardt, for which she received the Heiner Carow Prize at the 2019 Berlinale. Annekatrin Hendel has been a member of the board of the German Film Academy since 2018 .
