Annelis Kimmel

Annelis Kimmel (born Annelis Trübsand on July 7, 1934 in Hausdorf , Saxony ) is a former German trade unionist ( FDGB ). She was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR and briefly chairwoman of the FDGB.

Life

The daughter of a working-class family completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic from 1949 to 1952 after attending primary school. In 1949 she became a member of the FDGB and the FDJ . From 1952 she worked as a full-time FDJ functionary. In 1953/54 she attended the FDJ youth college "Wilhelm Pieck" on Lake Bogensee and in 1954 became a member of the SED . In 1958/59 she studied at the Komsomol University in Moscow. From 1962 to 1964 she was head of the youth affairs department at the East Berlin magistrate . Then from 1964 to 1966 she studied at the engineering school Berlin-Lichtenberg with a degree as a mechanical engineer. In 1966/67 she was deputy secretary of the basic SED organization in the VEB Berliner Glühlampenwerk . From 1967 she worked as an instructor, then from 1969 to 1973 secretary of the SED district leadership in Berlin-Treptow . From 1973 to 1976, she studied at the party college "Karl Marx" at the Central Committee of the SED, this time with a degree in social science . From 1977 to December 1978 she was the successor to the late Rudi Seume (1927–1977), secretary of the basic SED organization and party organizer of the SED Central Committee in the VEB Kombinat NARVA "Rosa Luxemburg" Berlin.

From January 1979 to November 1989 she acted as the successor to Rudolf Höppner as chairwoman of the FDGB district board in Berlin. In May 1979 she was co-opted into the FDGB Federal Executive and elected to the Presidium of the FDGB Federal Executive. At the same time, she had been a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership in Berlin since February 1979. From June 1981 to January 1990, as a member of the FDGB parliamentary group, she was a member of the People's Chamber and first deputy chairman of the Committee on Trade and Supply. During the 14th meeting of the People's Chamber on January 11, 1990, she returned her People's Chamber mandate. She was also a member of the city council of Berlin.

On November 2, 1989, she succeeded the resigned Harry Tisch as chairman of the FDGB federal executive committee, but resigned on December 9, 1989 after protests by members against the delay in the renewal of the FDGB. She took early retirement and eventually retired.

Private

Until 1980 it was called Scheel. In 1980 she married the SED functionary Heinz Kimmel (1927-2004) and took his name on. She has three children.
