The connecting railway Zementwerk Deuna is a single-track electrified connecting railway in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia . It branches off the Halle – Hann railway line. Münden from Bernterode and leads to the cement works in Deuna .

The almost 4 km long route leads west of the Bernterode train station from the Bernterode West junction (km 130.390) in an arc in a southerly direction from the Halle-Kasseler-Bahn. Shortly after the junction, the railway line crosses the Wipper river with a viaduct and the 211 district road between Niederorschel and Bernterode with an overpass. After an underpass, the route ends in the Dyckerhoff GmbH factory premises , where there is a separate factory railway with a freight station. The route is only used for freight traffic.

history

With the construction and commissioning of what was then VEB Eichsfelder Zementwerk Deuna in 1975, the rail connection was also planned in order to guarantee cost-effective removal of the cement and delivery of energy sources. In 1993 the section was electrified together with the main line. Today around 60% of the products are transported by rail.

Works railway cement works Deuna

On the cement works premises there is an extensive works railway network with a length of about 25 kilometers, 85 switches and a freight station. The railway is used for the internal logistics of cement production and the assembly of the trains before delivery. There are two class V 60 locomotives in use.
