Anthony Zerbe
Anthony Jared Zerbe (born May 20, 1936 in Long Beach , California ) is an American actor .
Career
After serving in the US Navy , Zerbe studied at Stella Adler's drama school in New York City .
Zerbe has been in front of the camera since 1963 and is best known for numerous appearances in television series, in which he was often cast as the villain. His best-known cinema appearances include his roles as an antagonist to Charlton Heston in the apocalyptic film The Omega Man (1971), as Admiral Dougherty in Star Trek: The Insurrection (1998) and as Councilor Harmann in the films Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions (both 2003). For television, he impersonated the Civil War general and later US President Ulysses S. Grant in the series Torches in the Storm in 1986 . In 1976 he received an Emmy for his supporting role as a police lieutenant in the detective series Harry O .
Anthony Zerbe also appeared in numerous plays. In 1990, together with Josh Brolin , he founded the theater festival Reflections in Rochester , New York , which is dedicated to new plays and of which he was artistic director for five years.
Anthony Zerbe has been married to Arnette Jens, who has emerged as an actress and painter, since 1962. They have a son and a daughter.
