Anti-anemic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An anti-anemic is a drug that is useful in increasing the hemoglobin level of a patient suffering from anemia .

These include erythropoietin and darbepoetin , but also iron supplements ( e.g. iron fumarate ), since the formation of new erythrocytes usually requires more iron than can be absorbed through food (see also iron deficiency anemia ). Depending on the symptoms, erythrocyte concentrates can also be used to treat anemia.
