Antje Blumenthal b. Meißner (born December 25, 1947 in Itzehoe ) is a German politician ( CDU ). She was a member of the German Bundestag from 2001 to 2009 and previously a member of the Hamburg Parliament for several terms .

Life and work

Antje Blumenthal completed an apprenticeship in the tax administration of the city of Hamburg and then worked in tax offices and in the Hamburg regional finance office. She is married.

Political party

Blumenthal joined the CDU in 1966 and was deputy chairwoman of the CDU regional association in Hamburg from 1992 to May 2008.

She was particularly involved in the Christian Democratic Workforce (CDA) and was CDA state chairman in Hamburg from 1989 to 2003 and deputy CDA federal chairwoman from 1993 to 2003.

MPs

Antje Blumenthal was a member of the district assembly of Hamburg-Mitte from 1974 to 1989 and of the Hamburg citizenship for the first time from November 1986 to May 1987. From 1989 to 2001 she was again a member of the citizenry. There she was chairwoman of the social committee from 1994 to 1997 and deputy chairwoman of the CDU parliamentary group from 1997 to 2001.

On November 8, 2001, she replaced the resigned MP Birgit Schnieber-Jastram in the German Bundestag, to which she was a member until she resigned after the end of the 16th legislative period in 2009. Here she was deputy chairwoman of the German-Baltic parliamentary group . Antje Blumenthal has always entered the Bundestag via the Hamburg state list. She did not allow her party to nominate her for the 2009 Bundestag election. When the state list was drawn up at the state representative assembly of the CDU Hamburg on March 27, 2009, the CDU state chief Michael Freytag said: "Antje, you will be difficult to replace, we already miss you."

After leaving the Bundestag, she was the Hamburg Senate Coordinator for Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities from 2009 to 2011.

Social offices

Since February 14, 2005, she has been the chairwoman of the North German Broadcasting Council (NDR).
