Antoinette Monsio Sayeh (born July 12, 1958 ) is a Liberian financial expert and director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), she was finance minister in the Liberian government from 2006 to 2008.

Life

Antoinette M. Sayeh was born on July 12, 1958 in the Liberian capital Monrovia . After attending school, she began studying in the United States, earning a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College , and a PhD in International Development Economics from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University .

At the World Bank she was regional director for the programs of the states of Benin , Niger and Togo and worked temporarily on a project for the financial reform of Pakistan .

In the first legislative period of the Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf , the qualified financial expert Antoinette Sayeh took over the Ministry of Finance in January 2006. Her main task was to reduce the high level of national debt, to regulate the state banking and finance system and to fight corruption . During the legislative period, Antoinette Sayeh switched to the management of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as director for the Africa Department in July 2008 , in this role she is now one of the most influential African politicians in the world.
