Anton Wunderer
Anton Wunderer (born April 5, 1850 in Vienna ; † January 16, 1906 ) was an Austrian horn player and composer.
Life
Alongside Emil Wipperich and Franz Pichler, Anton Wunderer was a member of Josef Schantl's famous horn quartet , which led to the founding of the Viennese French Horn Association in 1883 . Wunderer wrote marching, waltz and polka music for horn quartet and was therefore referred to as " Johann Strauss of the horn quartet". He composed over 300 works.
In addition to his work as a horn player, Wunderer was a conductor and répétiteur at the Vienna Court Opera .
His final resting place is in the Vienna Central Cemetery (73-30-3).
