Antony Gibbs

Antony Gibbs ( October 17, 1925 - February 26, 2016 ) was a British film editor .

Life

Gibbs began his work in the field of film editing as assistant editor to Alan Osbiston and Ralph Kemplen ; from 1959 he worked as an independent editor. In the 1960s he was involved in six films by director Tony Richardson . In later years he worked several times with directors Norman Jewison and John Frankenheimer .

In the 1970s, Gibbs was nominated three times for the BAFTA Film Award for Best Editing . In 1998 and 2002 he was honored with the Eddie Award .

In the course of his career he was involved in around 50 productions.

In 2002 he was recognized by the American Cinema Editors with the ACE Career Achievement Award .
