apollo radio - spelling: "apollo radio)))" - is a private radio station from Saxony that has been on the air since November 2004. The operators are the organizers of the other commercial VHF broadcasting chains in Saxony, Regiocast ( Radio PSR /R.SA), BCS ( Hitradio RTL / Sachsen Funkpaket ) and Energy Sachsen .
Transmission area
apollo radio broadcasts a 24-hour specialty program with a mixture of classical music , film music , soul and jazz in the Saxon cities of Leipzig , Dresden and Chemnitz . In Chemnitz, Leipzig and Dresden, apollo radio shares its frequencies with local non-commercial radios that broadcast between 6pm and 11pm on weekdays and even from 12pm to midnight on weekends. In Chemnitz, the university broadcaster Radio UNiCC can be received for one hour a day , followed by the citizens' radio Radio T on the frequency of Apollo Radio. In Leipzig, apollo radio shares three frequencies with Radio Blau and in Dresden two frequencies with the free radio station coloRadio . The frequencies only have a short range, so that filling frequencies have to be used in some cities. apollo radio can also be received as a live stream.
Since January 31, 2018, Apollo Radio can be received as part of a small-scale DAB project in Leipzig on Kanal 6C and in Freiberg on Kanal 10D. While Apollo Radio shares the transmission time with free radios on the VHF frequencies, broadcasts are non-stop on DAB +.

The program is produced in the Ammonhof in Dresden, where Hitradio RTL and Radio Dresden are also based.
Before the move, Apollo Radio broadcast at the former location at Carolastraße 4-6, Chemnitz.
program
The program is moderated live between Monday and Friday during the day, but is subject to a Voice Tracking -Tenor with very little word portion. Apollo Radio broadcasts according to a fixed weekly schedule. The programs differ partly musically, but hardly in terms of content. Classical and jazz or jazz-related music is usually broadcast every half hour. There are deviations in a daily special between 10 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. as well as in the programs jazz brunch , classic at noon , soul after dinner , blue hour and 'towards the south . During the broadcasting time when the free public radio stations in Dresden, Chemnitz and Leipzig are activated, a classic and jazz music program is broadcast via live stream according to the standard scheme. The news comes from the BLR , the church contributions from the church editorial team from Radio PSR as well as the BCS.
particularities
Despite its commercial status, apollo radio is practically free of advertising. Similar to Radio Top 40 in Thuringia, it mainly serves to fill free FM frequencies in Saxony with a program and thus exclude competition for the other private radio stations in Saxony. This also explains the participation of all commercial, Saxon radio stations (except Radio WSW ) in Apollo Radio. apollo radio received the frequency allocation under the condition that 49 hours of broadcasting time per week were granted to the free citizen radio stations in Saxony ( Radio Blau [Leipzig], Radio T [Chemnitz] and coloRadio [Dresden]).
