Aranel is a white wine variety . It is a new breed from 1961 by Paul Truel at the INRA Montpellier ( Institut National de la Recherche en Agronomie ).

The variety received in 1987 from the CTPS (Comité Technique Permanent de la Sélection) the plant variety and was included in the list recommended varieties 1,992th

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

  • The shoot tip is open. It is slightly hairy with white wool. The green young leaves are still slightly hairy.
  • The thick leaves are strongly indented and three- to five-lobed. The stem bay is closed. The leaf margin is serrated to a point. The teeth are set medium-wide compared to other grape varieties. The leaf surface (also called blade) has a blisteringly coarse structure.
  • The cylindrical to cone-shaped grape is large, shouldered and densely grilled. The rounded berries are small. They are golden yellow in color when fully ripe.

Maturity: The 'Aranel' grape variety ripens around 20-22 days after the ' Gutedel ' and is considered to ripen in the middle of the period.

The new breed brings high yields.

distribution

In France it is approved in all wine-growing regions , but is rarely grown. At the end of the 1900s, 5 hectares of vineyards were known.
