Aristide Cardinal Cavallari (born February 8, 1849 in Chioggia , Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia , † November 24, 1914 in Venice ) was Archbishop and Patriarch of Venice .

Life

Aristide Cavallari received his training in the seminary in Chioggia and in Venice. He received the sacrament of ordination on September 27, 1872 and was subsequently appointed as parish chaplain in Venice.

1903 appointed him Pope Pius X to the titular bishop of Philadelphia in Lydia and auxiliary bishop in Venice. The episcopal ordination received Aristide Cavallari by Francesco Cardinal Satolli , co-consecrators were Jeremy James Harty , archbishop of Manila , and Paolo Maria Barone , emeritus Bishop of Casale Monferrato . In 1904 he was first vicar general , and a few months later he was patriarch of Venice. In 1907 the Pope accepted him as cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin ( pro hac vice ) in the College of Cardinals on. Aristide attended the 1914 conclave .

He died on November 24, 1914 and was taken to the cemetery “S. Michele “buried in Venice. In 1957 his remains were transferred to the Venice Cathedral.
