Armin Bollinger

Armin Bollinger (born November 1, 1913 in Zurich ; † November 27, 1995 there ) was a Swiss historian and writer.

Life

Armin Bollinger grew up in Zurich and, after graduating from high school, trained as a secondary teacher at the University of Zurich . He then continued his studies in Rennes and received his doctorate in 1941. phil.

On his many trips to South America, he deepened his knowledge of Latin American history. He worked as a university lecturer and head of the institute: at the University of St. Gallen he was head of the cultural department of the former institute for Latin American research and development cooperation and in Brazil he was professor of the history of Latin America . He also lectured in the field of economics .

Bollinger was considered one of the best connoisseurs of the Indian high cultures of Latin America at all. In addition to numerous scientific publications, he also made a name for himself as an author of literary works with stories from South America. Armin Bollinger lived in Zurich, where he died on November 27, 1995. In 1996, the connection from Max-Bill-Platz to Brown-Boveri-Strasse was named Armin-Bollinger-Weg in his honor in Zurich's Oerlikon district .
