Arneguy Town Hall

Arnéguy ( Basque : Arnegi ) is a French municipality with 238 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bayonne and the Canton of Montagne Basque (until 2015: Canton of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port ).

The Pyrenean village is located on the Spanish border on the eponymous river Nive d'Arnéguy and is directly connected to the Spanish hamlet of Harchies . The hamlets of Ondarolle, Udirinia and Zelzaneko Bordak also belong to the village .

Economy and Infrastructure

The main road, which is called " D  933" on French territory , crosses the border in the village.

Arnéguy has a primary school.

Agriculture, known for the production of sheep cheese, is widespread.

Tourism also plays an important role. The area has a well-developed network of hiking trails.
