Species protection program

A species protection program is a bundle of coordinated measures to ensure the survival of one or more animal or plant species . By Red Lists and geographic distribution information can identify in certain countries or regions of priority protected species.

Species protection programs or action plans are used to plan and take specific protection or support measures for a selected set of particularly endangered species.

  • Species protection programs try to prevent the extinction of species through human or natural environmental impacts (disasters).
  • Action plans try to increase the populations by means of suitable measures and to enable resettlement in order to reduce the risk of species becoming extinct.
