Arthur Barclay (politician)
Arthur Barclay (born July 31, 1854 in Bridgetown , Barbados , † July 10, 1938 ) was the 15th President of Liberia from 1904 to 1912 .
Arthur Barclay was born in Bridgetown , Barbados in 1854 . He later emigrated to Liberia . Under President Garretson W. Gibson , he held the office of Treasury Secretary and later became his successor. From November 4, 1904 to January 1, 1912, Barclay was President of Liberia for the True Whig Party . In the late 1920s he was a member of a League of Nations commission to investigate the Fernando Po scandal .
