Arthur Tofte

Arthur Reginald Tofte (born June 8, 1902 in Cook County , Illinois ; died May 21, 1980 in Wauwatosa , Wisconsin ) was an American writer, best known for his science fiction and fantasy .

He published a few short stories as early as the 1930s, starting with The Meteor Monsters (1938), but then worked for many years in advertising at Allis-Chalmers , only after his retirement there in 1969 did he begin to write full-time. His first novel was Crash Landing on Iduna (1975), a robinsonad on an unknown planet. In 1977 the sequel Survival Planet followed .

Tofte died of cancer in 1980 at the age of 77. He had a son and a daughter.
