Articolo 31 is an Italian hip-hop - Duo , founded 1990th

Band history

J Ax (alias Alessandro Aleotti) and DJ Jad (alias Luca Perrini) met at a party in Milan . In the same year they decided to start a group. At first they wanted to call themselves Articolo 41 , which is the legal basis in Italy, according to which one can be exempted from Italian military service due to a "nervous syndrome" . However, an Italian professor advised them to use the name Articolo 31 , which in the Irish constitution regulates freedom of speech in the media. A reference to this can be found in the (spoken) intro of the album Strade di Città . However, it should be noted that Article 31 of the Irish Constitution by no means deals with freedom of the press or the media , but rather the structure and rights of the Council of State . Instead, it may be an allusion to Article 31 of the Irish Broadcasting Authority Act of 1960, which at that time was a legal basis for state media censorship.

Beginnings and successes of the band

With their single Tocca qui from the album Strade di Città , they became the first Italian hip-hop band to land in the Italian charts. Strade di Città is one of the first hip-hop albums in Italy. They then founded the Spaghetti Funk crew. Her second album Mesa di Vesperi marked her final breakthrough .

In 1996 her album Così com'é came out, which, like the previous album , was produced by Franco Godi. The record became a huge success and Articolo 31 became an integral part of the Italian music scene. Così com'é was also released in Switzerland and Germany with respectable success, followed by a tour lasting from 1996 to 1997.

In 1999 the album Xché sì was recorded with the participation of artists such as Kurtis Blow , Carmelo Saez Mendoza, Paolo Brera and Gemelli Diversi .

With their film Senza Filtro , made in 2001, they describe difficulties faced by Italian young people in big cities, such as drug use.

In her sixth album Domani Smetto , her music got a new sound that added elements of rock, pop and punk to the rap. Thanks to this album, the band became so well known that they were regularly invited to TRL . In 2003 her last studio album to date, Italiano Medio , was released, which, like the previous album, combines pop, rock and rap elements. In the same year, the first live album La Riconquista Del Forum was also released: Live .

Time out and solo career

In 2005, the band members announced that they would be taking a hiatus to focus on their solo careers. DJ Jad continues to work as a DJ and released his album Milano - New York in 2006. J Ax released his album Di sana pianta on October 1st, 2006 .
