Buildings and monuments

Boundary stone 1558
  • The Protestant church probably goes back to a medieval building. Over a previous building from the 12th century, a new choir tower was erected in the 15th century with ogival twin arcades (biphoria) walled in. The nave was rebuilt in 1752. Fragments of the painting in the choir from around 1420/30 have been preserved. A stone pulpit with the von Habern coat of arms is adorned with Mannerist-Late Gothic ornaments and bears the year 1563. The font essentially dates from 1619 and was renovated in 1997.
  • The Catholic Church of St. Maria was built from 1890 and consecrated on August 9, 1892.
  • The school building from 1839 has a striking double portal. There are other historical buildings in the village, including the Gasthaus Adler .
  • The administrative center is a functional building from the late 20th century. The village fountain is from 1895.
  • In the center of the village there is a boundary stone from 1558 with the inscription: "155 - 8 Ott - HPC". The boundary stone marked the border between the Kurpfälzischen Cameralwald, which belongs to Obrigheim, and the Stüber Zent , to which Asbach belonged, and points to the ruling regent in 1558: Elector Ottheinrich (1502–1559).
  • A plaque in the center of the village commemorates Philipp Gaa (1785-1851), evangelical pastor in Asbach 1844-1851, who is said to have fallen victim to the Baden revolution.
  • Until recently, there was a 169 meter high meteorological measuring mast south of the TECHNO industrial park at 49 ° 20'30 "north latitude and 09 ° 02'47" east longitude. This mast has meanwhile been dismantled and a prefabricated concrete cell phone tower was built in its place.
