Aslan Ahmad oglu Aslanov (born August 18, 1951 in the Jabrail district , then the Soviet Union , now Azerbaijan) is an Azerbaijani journalist. He is the chairman of the board of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AzerTAg).

Life

Aslan Aslanov graduated in 1975 from the Faculty of Journalism of Azerbaijan State University. From 1975 to 1990 he worked for various newspapers in the Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic .

In 1992 Aslanov became a correspondent for the state news agency AzerTAg. He later worked as deputy editor-in-chief and editor-in-chief. From 1993 to 2002 he took part in foreign state visits by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev as a special correspondent for AzerTAg. In 1997, Aslanov was appointed Deputy Director of AzerTAg by decree of the President, and in 2002 its General Director.

From 2008 he chaired the community of Turkish-speaking news agencies. From June 2011 to March 2013 he was President of BSANNA- the Alliance of the Association of National News Agencies of 14 member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. In September 2013 he was elected Vice President of OANA. At the IV World Congress of News Agencies, which took place on November 20 and 21, 2013 in Er Riyadh, he was elected a member of the board of this organization.

Following the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on March 15, 2018, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan State News Agency.

Aslan Aslanov is married and has one son.
