The Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española , based in Madrid , was founded in Mexico in 1951 and comprises the 22 existing national academies of the Spanish language under the leadership of the Real Academia Española . In 2000 she was awarded the Premio Príncipe de Asturias for Concordia .

The member academies nominate the candidates for the Cervantes Prize annually .
