The place is in the Bucklige Welt region at the foot of the Hochwechsel. It is entirely owned by the municipality of Aspangberg-St. Peter , to which the outskirts of the market belong.

The large and small Pestingbach, which together with the Murtalbach belong to the source streams of the Pitten , unite in Aspang-Markt .

history

After the conquest of the Avar Empire by the Frankish Emperor Charlemagne , the settlement of Aspang began on the important transport link to Carantania . The resulting place was now in the area of ​​the Baierischen Ostland . Aspang was first mentioned in a document in 1220. The Aspang castle was built probably the 12th century in the third quarter.

The district court of Aspang was closed on July 1, 2002, the communities Feistritz am Wechsel , Kirchberg am Wechsel and St. Corona am Wechsel became the judicial district of Gloggnitz and the communities Aspang-Markt, Aspangberg-St. Peter , Edlitz , Grimmenstein , Mönichkirchen , Thomasberg and Zöbern assigned to the Neunkirchen judicial district.
