Astrobot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Astroboter is the artist name of the musician and producer David Weicht (* 1987 ) from Germany. The music project has existed since 2005, with the first official release only taking place in May 2010. David Weicht was born in Schwientochlowitz (Upper Silesia, Poland) and grew up in the Eicker Wiesen district of the Lower Rhine town of Moers . Before it was first released, he was the guitarist of the post-rock instrumental band Aeronautix . Weicht also runs the record company and artist agency Psychedelic Dungeon Records , which he founded in autumn 2012.

Style and Influences

Astrobot's musical style is made up of elements from trip-hop , post-rock, ambient and krautrock . Astrobot mixes samples and instruments, which are then processed by a sampler ( MPC2000XL ) and Ableton Live . The music is supported by literary stories and draws references to television series such as Lost , Twin Peaks or Game of Thrones . There are also influences from Far Eastern mythology and philosophy.

The astrobot

The figure of the astrobot is a kind of energy that has manifested itself in the form of a robot . The myth about the being is based on a translation error by a Polish monk. He translated ancient scrolls from India and incorrectly changed the Polish word combination "Stara Robota" (in German "old work") to "Astroboter". The so-called "old work" was about the balance between good and bad .
