Advanced seminar for novice drivers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The advanced seminar for novice drivers (ASF), also known as retraining , is a measure ordered by the German driving license authority (road traffic office) in the event of an A or two B violations within the driving license probation period, which is usually for the first two years of a driving license (except for Classes L, AM, T). An A violation (a serious violation, see list below in the verkehrsportal.de web link) immediately leads to the ordering of follow-up training, a B violation (less serious violation) only the second time, namely when the second entry is made in the Federal Motor Transport Authority .

The advanced seminar is carried out by a licensed driving school with a group of at least six and a maximum of twelve participants and consists of five parts: four theory sessions of 135 minutes each and an observation drive between the first and the second session, which lasts at least 30 minutes and takes place with up to three participants each.

As part of the advanced seminar, the violations of the participants are discussed and ways of avoiding them in the future are sought.

Upon completion of the seminar, the participants will receive a certificate that must be submitted to the relevant administrative authority.

If the driver's license holder does not successfully complete the seminar within the deadline set by the administrative authority, the driver's license will be withdrawn. A new driving license will only be issued if proof of participation in an advanced seminar is provided.

Drug and alcohol-related novice drivers

Drunk driving during the probationary period according to § 315c Paragraph 1 No. 1 a and §§ 316, 323a of the Criminal Code (StGB) or §§ 24a, 24c of the Road Traffic Act (StVG) have a "special advanced seminar" (§ 36 of the driving license Ordinance (FEV)), which is carried out in groups of at least six and no more than twelve participants. This course begins with a preliminary talk and consists of three sessions of 180 minutes each over a period of two to four weeks as well as the preparation of course tasks between the sessions. Exceeding the deadline for this special advanced seminar is regarded as a refusal and also results in the withdrawal of the driver's license.
