Augustin Reichmann von Hochkirchen , before 1813 Augustin Reichmann (born February 22, 1755 in Pilgram in Bohemia; † December 9, 1828 in Vienna ) was an Austrian nobleman and civil servant from Lower Austria.

Life

Augustin Reichmann, the son of Alois Konrad Reichmann von Hochkirchen, who was ennobled for bravery, was a civil servant at several regional administrations (Ölmütz, Galicia). In 1800 he became Vice President of Western Galicia and from 1802 to 1803 he was the office director in Vienna. In 1804 he became the examination commissioner of the Theresian Knight Academy (today Theresianum ). Reichmann von Hochkirchen became Vice President of the Lower Austrian Government in 1807, and Napoleon confirmed him as head of civil administration in 1809 . In 1817 he became governor (= head of government) in Lower Austria and remained so until his death in 1828. He was a real secret councilor and knight of the Order of St. Stephen . In 1813 he was taken over by Emperor Franz II.elevated to the baron status with the predicate of Hochkirchen . Reichmann was an honorary member of the Imperial and Royal Academy of Fine Arts and a member of the Imperial and Royal Agricultural Society in Vienna. On January 2, 1810, he became an honorary citizen of the city of Vienna for his caring work during the French occupation in 1809 .
