The Austria Classic Hotel Wien is located on Praterstrasse in Vienna's 2nd district, Leopoldstadt . It is a member of the Austria Classic Hotels group and was called Hotel Nordbahn until January 1st, 2008 .

history

Originally, the Zum schwarzen Tor building, completed in 1808, on Praterstrasse 72 (until 1862 Jägerzeile ), served as a residential building for Peter Danhauser and had only two floors . In 1838, one year after the opening of the Kaiser-Ferdinands-Nordbahn (the first steam train in Austria) and the first station building of the kk Nordbahnhof (today Wien Praterstern station ) in Nordbahnstrasse , the building was given an additional floor and was opened as Hotel Nordbahn .

Between 1843 and 1849 Josef Scheiflinger carried out further extensions and extensions to the hotel. The hotel has been family-owned since then.

After July 3, 1866, in the last phase after the defeat of Austria and Saxony against the Prussian troops in the German War in the Battle of Königgrätz , "the remnants of the defeated Northern Army gathered in the entrenchments of Floridsdorf. And in the" Hotel Nordbahn "The high command of the unfortunate army was established on Praterstrasse until it was disbanded."

Between 1944 and 1945 the building was partially badly damaged in World War II and after the war ended, it remained under Soviet administration until 1955. After the end of the occupation , the management of the hotel goes back to Kommerzialrat Felix Scheiflinger, who took over the house from his father Josef Scheiflinger in 1908. In 1961, the management of the hotel goes to Erika Blumauer, Felix Scheiflinger's daughter, who pushes ahead with the modernization of the hotel and hands over management to her son Reinhard Blumauer in 1973.

On the occasion of the upcoming opening of the new Vienna Praterstern train station (previously Wien Nord train station , before that Praterstern train station , originally kk Nordbahnhof ), the Hotel Nordbahn underwent a "rebranding" in the 170th year of its existence and since January 1st, 2008 it has been renamed Austria Classic Hotel Vienna .

The most recent change in management took place in 2010 when Reinhard Blumauer handed over the management to his daughter Ines Pietsch, who thus advanced to "one of the youngest hotel managers in Austria" .
