Avenue de la Paix

The avenue de la Paix , German avenue of peace , is a street in the north of the city of Geneva in Switzerland . It branches off from Rue de Lausanne at Place Albert Thomas, in the immediate vicinity of the shores of Lake Geneva , and describes an arc first in a westerly and then in a northerly direction. Shortly after the Palais des Nations , the 1.2 kilometer long street turns into Rue de Pregny. In its course, it passes the Place des Nations , a square where several office buildings of international organizations are located.

A number of internationally known political, humanitarian, cultural and academic institutions have their headquarters on Avenue de la Paix. These include the European headquarters of the United Nations ( United Nations Office at Geneva , UNOG) in the Palais des Nations , the International Committee the Red cross (ICRC), the world Meteorological organization (WMO), the Geneva center for security policy , the Geneva International center for humanitarian demining , the International Red cross and Red Crescent Museum , which from Geneva's art patron Gustave Revilliod founded Swiss porcelain and glass museum (Musée Ariana), the Geneva hotel management school École Hôtelière de Genève (EHG) and the Global Humanitarian Forum in the Villa Rigot.
