Azione teatrale

Azione teatrale is a genre of musical theater that was particularly popular in Italy in the late 17th and 18th centuries. It is also known as azione scenica , componimento dramatico or componimento da camera .

The Azione teatrale is mostly a one-act opera. they were rather performed in private settings, such as in the theaters of the aristocracy, and were thus an early form of chamber opera. The fabrics were mostly historical or mythological in nature. A similar but more extensive composition of this type was called the Festa teatrale (e.g. WA Mozart's Ascanio in Alba from 1771). The generic generic name of these two forms is Serenata .
