from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bahaa el-Din Ahmed Hussein El-Akkad (* 1949 in Egypt ) is the former head of a mosque community who converted to Christianity in April 2005 . For over 20 years, El-Akkad belonged to a non-violent Islamic fundamentalist group that wants to convert non-Muslims to Islam . After talking to a Christian, doing a Bible study and praying , he found himself a Christian.

On April 6, 2005, he was arrested on "suspicion of blasphemy against Islam". Although his release was ordered by a court in Cairo on July 30, 2006, the SSI secret police ignored this decision and in September moved El-Akkad to the Wadi el-Natroun maximum security prison, which is specially designed for political Islamists . He was released on April 30, 2007.

Bahaa el-Din Ahmed Hussein El-Akkad is married and has three children.
