Railway stations in North Rhine-Westphalia |
The Düsseldorf-Rath train station is located about 8 kilometers northeast of Düsseldorf Central Station in the Rath district of Düsseldorf . It is located on the Ruhr Valley Railway and the Troisdorf – Mülheim-Speldorf railway line and is classified in station category 5 by DB Station & Service .
The Düsseldorf-Rath train station is also the stop for a light rail line, a tram line and two bus lines.
Location and facilities
The train station is in the northeast of the Rath district of Düsseldorf , west of Oberrather Straße.
The station had two side platforms with access from Westfalenstrasse. In the course of increasing the platforms from 76 to 96 centimeters in summer 2012, one of these side platforms was abandoned and the other converted into a central platform with barrier-free access from the underpass.
The station building from 1874 is no longer there. In the 1950s, a simple one-story building was built that is now used privately.
The freight tracks at Düsseldorf-Rath station are used to provide freight trains with tubes from the neighboring Vallourec works . Construction trains are also often parked here.
service
The station is not served by long- distance passenger rail services. In the local rail passenger traffic today (2020) only one line of the S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr stops . Until 1983 there was also passenger traffic between Duisburg and Düsseldorf-Rath.
For this purpose, the train station in local public transport is approached by one line each of the Düsseldorf Stadtbahn and Düsseldorf tram and a bus line.
