The Hagen-Vorhalle station is a marshalling yard in the Vorhalle district of Hagen with national significance and a passenger station for local traffic. It was put into operation in its current form in 1910 and is today one of the nine large marshalling yards in Germany that form the backbone of the 200X production program of what was then Railion Deutschland AG (now DB Cargo ) , which was launched in 2006 . The regional train station for passenger traffic is on the Ruhr Valley Railway and the Elberfeld – Dortmund railway line . It was on March 9, 1849 as the station Herdecke opened. Later names in the 1880s were Herdecke Süd , then Herdecke Vorhalle and from 1912 Vorhalle until the station was given its current name in the 1950s. The address is Brüninghausstr. 13, 58089 Hagen, Germany .
Marshalling yard
The marshalling yard has eleven entry tracks , two mountain tracks and 40 direction tracks with a usable length of up to 920 meters. The departing rail freight wagons or groups of wagons are braked behind the mountain by four valley brakes. The target braking is done fully automatically by a cascade of valley brakes and directional track brakes. Following the past are cars by railroad cars conveyors beige pushes for coupling. In the valley, the wagons and the main air lines are coupled, the subsequent brake test is carried out using a radio-controlled brake test system .
The entire shunting technology is controlled centrally by the electronic interlocking Vwf. The process operation is handled fully automatically. An intervention by the signal box operator (point keeper ) will only be necessary in the event of a malfunction.
The marshalling yard was modernized between 2004 and 2006 by DB Netz (subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn ). In 2004, 23 of the 40 direction tracks were renewed. In 2005 and 2006, in addition to the existing valley brakes, directional brakes were installed in all 40 directional tracks. In addition, all direction tracks were equipped with conveyor systems that push the expired wagons over the entire length of the track to the next wagon.
The fully automatic drainage system was put into operation in January 2007. From 2008, a shunting locomotive controlled by radio remote control from the signal box was also to be used in Hagen-Vorhalle . As a result of the modernization, the train formation times and the workforce in the Hagen-Vorhalle station were significantly reduced.
Passenger station
The passenger station Hagen-Vorhalle originally had two middle platforms next to the station building , of which the northern one with two tracks is left today. The station is a through station and belongs to station category 5. The station building has been included in the dismantling planning of DB Station & Service AG and is to be demolished in 2020.
The route from Herdecke to the north of the train station had no platform.
