Railway stations in Hessen |
The Kelsterbach railway station is the station of the same name südhessischen city at the Main Railway from Bischofsheim to Frankfurt-Niederrad .
history
The Kelsterbach station was built in 1863 at the intersection of the country roads to Mörfelden and Rüsselsheim , on the 23.8 km of the Mainbahn . Since the railway line was led above the edge of the Kelsterbach Terrace , it was far outside the village center when it was built. In 1900 the station received two switch and signal boxes.
Since 1972, the line branches off in the direction of Frankfurt (Main) Airport Regional Station. The stop of the lines S8 and S9 of the S-Bahn Rhein-Main is today on a covered central platform of more recent times. Access to the house platform on platform 1 is blocked by a fence.
Reception building
The station building was built in 1863. It is still almost in its original state and follows the type of construction of the Hessian Ludwig Railway . A structurally identical train station is located in Raunheim . On a rectangular floor plan, a symmetrical two-storey central building was created from red sandstone , which ends at the top with a gable roof . The counter hall with waiting room, a service room and rooms for handling goods transport were housed in the basement. On the upper floor it housed the station master's apartment. In front of it to the south is a flat extension with functional rooms. The historic station building is no longer used for rail traffic. Today it is used as a restaurant. The reception building is a cultural monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act .
