The Lindenholzhausen station is a stop at kilometer 63.4 of the of Frankfurt (Main) Central Station by Limburg (Lahn) leading Main-Lahn Railway in Limburg district Lindenholzhausen . The stop is in the tariff area of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV), belongs to the station category 5 of the Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) and has two platform tracks .

history

Since the construction of the Main-Lahn-Bahn in 1875, its route has also run east of the Limburg district of Lindenholzhausen. The entire, initially single-track line with the Eschhofen - Niederselters section was opened on February 1, 1875. In 1911 the double-track expansion of the line began, which was completed in 1913. Thus there were also two direction tracks in Lindenholzhausen.

In the district of Lindenholzhausen, the path from the village to the Lindenmühle and on to the "Hochfeld" crossed the railway line. Therefore a restricted level crossing was created here. Furthermore, a railway house with a stable and a well was built there for the gatekeeper and his family. A railway underpass for sheep was also built in the curve behind the “Scheid”. But the plans of the time did not include the construction of a local train stop and a train station.

So the trains passed Lindenholzhausen. The local employees in Limburg still had to walk the hour there and back. Given the daily working hours of ten or more hours at the time, that was an additional burden. For further trips, such as to the Rhine-Main or Ruhr area, the two or three kilometers away train stations in Eschhofen or Niederbruch had to be visited.

After the community in 1913 was willing to participate in the construction of a stopping point with 10,000 marks, on August 12 and 14, 1914, i.e. two weeks after the entry of the German Reich into the First Betting War (1914 - 1918), a corresponding contract must be signed.

As a result, a small station building, a toilet house, platforms in both directions, a signal box for a block with two signals, necessary barriers and a barrier system for the level crossing to the newly created paths to the Lindenmühle and the "Hochfeld" were built.

According to the documents of the Prussian Railway Directorate Frankfurt / Main in the Hessian Main State Archives, the stop in Lindenholzhausen was fully operational on September 2, 1918. However, due to war-related regulations to save coal, no trains stopped here initially.

It was not until July 10, 1919, a Thursday, that the long-awaited opening of the railway stop (Hp) in Lindenholzhausen took place after the trains had passed there for 44 years. Mayor Georg Rompel (1870 - 1955) with the municipal council as well as all school children with their teachers and large parts of the population came to the festively decorated new train station at 2 p.m. accompanied by a band waving flags to witness this event on the day that was so important for Lindenholzhausen to be.

In the course of rationalization measures, the acceptance of luggage and express goods was discontinued at Lindenholzhausen station on January 1, 1976. After a ticket machine went into operation, ticket sales at the counter ceased on September 1 of the same year. After all, there have been no railway employees here since June 1, 1977, so that the previous block signaling system could also be taken out of service.

After the station building had not found any other use, it was demolished in 1994 and a park-and-ride facility was built on its premises.

In 1986 the section from Niedernhausen to Limburg - where the Lindenholzhausen stop is also located - was electrified .
