The Vandières TGV ( French: Gare de Vandières TGV ) station is a planned station on the LGV Est européenne , the high-speed line between Paris, eastern France and southern Germany. It is to be built near Pagny-sur-Moselle / Vandières in the Moselle valley . The project has been practically on hold since the beginning of 2015.

location

The planned station at Pagny-Vandières is at the point where the high-speed line crosses the existing railway line that connects Nancy and Metz. Since the new stop is planned as a tower station , it would be possible to switch from regional traffic to high-speed trains. On the west side of the Moselle valley viaduct of the high-speed line, preliminary construction work worth 23 million euros has already been made in order to make the station easier to build later. With its direct connection to the existing rail network, it would occupy an exceptional position among the stations on French high-speed lines . These are usually on the green fieldcreated. Up to now offer only européenne also on the LGV Est lying Station Champagne-Ardenne TGV , which at the LGV Méditerranée railway stations Valence TGV and Avignon TGV , which at the LGV Nord lying station Calais-Fréthun and the on the LGV Rhin-Rhône lying Station Besançon Franche-Comté TGV transfer options to regional trains .

history

In the course of the construction of the LGV Est européenne, a dispute arose over the location of the train station, which should ensure the connection of the Lorraine region to the high-speed line. While the regional council ( conseil régional ) of Lorraine favored the Vandières location, the Moselle department opted for a location near the town of Louvigny . Although this did not offer a connection to the rest of the French rail network, it is located near the Metz-Nancy-Lorraine airport . The cities of Nancy and Metz are connected to the train station by shuttle buses.

In 2007, the project was expected to be completed by 2012, when it was to replace the existing Lorraine TGV station . The procedure for determining the public benefit (déclaration d'utilité publique (DUP), comparable to the plan approval decision in German planning law) was originally supposed to start in December 2008. In fact, it wasn't started until the end of August 2009. The DUP was finally released in March 2011.

In February 2013, the Cour des Comptes published a report in which the station was described as unprofitable. It was recommended that further planning be discontinued until economic profitability was restored. The cost of the new train station is estimated at 120 million euros. In October 2013, representatives of the region, including Jean-Pierre Masseret , met the Minister for Economic Affairs, Pierre Moscovici , to discuss funding. Commissioning should take place in 2018 at the earliest, as no financing agreement has been signed so far (as of the end of 2013).

In February 2015, the region hosted a referendum, which - probably also because of the upcoming local elections - met with little interest (less than 10% participation). As a result, the President of the Masseret Regional Council did not let the Regional Council vote on the plan. A new initiative by the association for users of public transport FNAUT from November 2015 is politically supported only by the Greens, the other parties are in favor of it in view of the originally unexpected success of the existing station in Louvigny and the recently held unsuccessful referendum, which is not in the interests of the The population can be recognized by the project, rejecting it.
